Robert J. Baxter

Robert J. Baxter, 77 of Pawnee died Thursday at Memorial Medical Center.

He was born May 3, 1918 in DuQuion, the son of John R. and Hattie A. Gladson
Baxter. He married Jennie M. Wilks in 1940.

Mr. Baxter was a coal miner for 43 years, retiring in 1980 from Peabody Coal Co. in
Pawnee. he was an Army veteran of World War ll, having received a Purple Heart. He
was a member of Taylorville VFW Post 4495, Pawnee Senior Citizens and Springfield
Rabbit Breeder's Club.

Survivors: wife, Jennie; two sons, Roger Baxter of Pawnee, Jim Baxter of Raymond; three daughters
Sondra Achenbach of Taylorville and Mrs. James (Linda) Woolary and Mrs. Gary (Carolyn) Price, 
both of Pawnee; six grandchildren; a brother Earl Baxter of California; a sister Irene Tielsch of 
California; and several nieces and nephews. 

Services: 10 a.m. Tuesday, Bisch and Son Funeral Home, with the Rev. Mark Henson 
officiating. Burial: Camp Butler National Cemetery.
